In the Workplace
Everyone deserves a safe workplace. That is why it is very important to tell others about your allergies. It is best to work with your manager and co-workers to create safety strategies together.

Here are some ideas:
  • Tell your manager and/or co-workers about your allergies and where to find your epinephrine auto-injector.
  • Teach them how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and how to use an epinephrine auto-injector properly.
  • Find ways to reduce the risk of coming in contact with your allergen. Do not expect your workplace to be free of specific food allergens, as food is often brought in for meetings and social events.
  • Give your manager and the Human Resources department copies of your Anaphylaxis Emergency Plan which can be kept in your personnel file. You should also keep a copy of your plan with you.
  • Offer to help your workplace to develop an anaphylaxis policy. For example, your company could have designated eating/kitchen areas, and ask that food brought in for staff parties be labelled.
